Parkside Baptist Church
Parkside Baptist Church is an old-fashioned, fundamental, premillenial, soulwinning, independent, local Baptist church. Parkside Baptist Church lies in the heart of the Dallas metroplex, and has been a shining lighthouse for the Dallas area since October of 1980. Parkside Baptist Church was founded by Dr. Martin May on October 15, 1980 as Prairie Creek Bible Baptist Church in what is known today as the “Pleasant Grove” portion of Dallas, Texas.
In October of 1984, Dr. Martin May felt it was God's will to retire, and the church called his son, Larry May, as the new pastor. Through the years, the church has relocated three times due to phenomenal growth. Through a chain of miraculous events, in February of 2005, the church moved to its current location in Mesquite, Texas. With this move came a name change. The church no longer was on or near Prairie Creek Road, and so voted to change its name to Parkside Baptist Church since it would be neighbors with one of the city's biggest parks.
With this move, God has given Parkside Baptist Church a six-acre campus, 62,000 square feet of space, an auditorium seating capacity of 800, 55 Sunday School classes, a full size gymnasium, and a property value of 3.2 million dollars. Parkside Baptist Church continues to be used by God, with people being saved and baptized every week. The preaching is red-hot, the people are servants, and the church is like family.
Timeline of Events in the History of Parkside Baptist Church
October 12, 1980 – Dr. Martin May founds Prairie Creek Bible Baptist Church
1981 – First bus route started
June 1983 – Larry May comes down after graduating from Hyles-Anderson College to work with his dad as an Assistant Pastor at Prairie Creek Bible Baptist Church
October 1984 – Bro. Larry May becomes pastor of Prairie Creek Bible Baptist Church
September 1986 – Prairie Creek Bible Baptist Academy is founded by Pastor May
1990 –Prairie Creek Bible Baptist Church moves to its second location on Elam Road in Dallas, Texas
May 27, 1994 – Pastor May receives a Doctorate from Hyles-Anderson College
1995 –Prairie Creek Bible Baptist Church moves to its third location on Oates Drive in Mesquite, Texas
September 2000 – Lone Star Baptist College is founded by Dr. Larry May
July 2004 –Prairie Creek Bible Baptist Church becomes Parkside Baptist Church
February 2005 – Parkside Baptist Church moves to its fourth and current location on Gross Road in Mesquite, Texas
October 2005 – Parkside Baptist Church celebrates its 25th church anniversary and sees 900 in attendance and 41 baptized
